What Is Myotherapy?

WHAT IS MYOTHERAPY?

Pain originates in the trigger points, but can quickly spread. To combat muscle tightness, pain or strain that can radiate out from one small spot, myotherapy is a form of therapy that helps muscles relearn how to behave.

The two-part technique begins by identifying, then releasing, trigger points. The next step lies in reteaching the muscles to correctly function. Corrective exercises which take them through the range of motion are practiced at home in between sessions, with the patient able to take an active role and participate in the healing process. The practice prepares muscle for movement, and considers all the factorscontributing to dysfunction -- not only the area of injury.

OUR SERVICES

WE OFFER 5 CORE SERVICES THAT CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

FULL BODY ASSESSMENT / DIAGNOSTIC
FULL BODY ASSESSMENT
DIAGNOSTIC

Annie’s Full Body Assessment is a myotherapy diagnostic designed to identify and isolate the areas that are triggering patients’ muscle aches and pain. It begins with a thorough review of the patient’s overall health.

TRIGGERPOINTTHERAPY.jpg
TRIGGER POINT
THERAPY

Pain originates in the trigger points, but can quickly spread. Rather than stretching or isolating a muscle, trigger point therapy identifies pain points and stimulates them to treat muscle pain, injury, ache or tightness.

MAINTENANC EXERCISES
MAINTENANCE EXCERSISES

After a client’s Full Body Assessment/Diagnostic, Annie designs a custom Maintenance Exercise plan that allows clients to take an active role in their own healing process. These exercises are tailored to each specific body and the particular type of pain a patient is experiencing.

KINESIO TAPING
KINESIO TAPING
(SPORTS TAPING)

Kinesiological taping is a technique where elastic sports tape, such as KT Tape or RockTape, is employed to support muscles, joints, tendons + ligaments. This can be a very helpful part of the myotherapy process after treatment, and support normal range of motion.

CHILDREN AND ADULT MYOTHERAPY APPOINTMENTS
60-90 MIN SESSIONS FOR
ADULTS AND CHILDREN

Following a client’s first appointment with Annie, 60-90 minute follow-up myotherapy sessions are available for adults and children. During these sessions, areas of affected muscle injury are treated via trigger point therapy to resolve tightness and pain.

Myotherapy Facts

“When I speak with a client, they’ve been in pain for a while. My biggest job is to -- within a short period of time -- get them to believe in their own mind’s eye -- that they can get better, because they believe they can’t get better.”
